Our family immigrated from Hong Kong in 1992 and we quickly realized there’s always a lack of home flavor. We were lucky as our grandparents were restaurant owners in Hong Kong, so we were able to cook up our own home flavor. We had to improvise with the limited imported resources back then, so my parents decided to cook everything inside a wok, even the sauces. This led to the birth of various homemade sauces and our favorite was always our hot sauce. Each time we make the hot sauce, we fill the wok so we can share bottles with friends and family. We do not cook with it so each person can adjust their spice as needed by adding to their own plates. It worked well with any gathering and created lasting memories for our family and our tastebuds.
